Drum Mix Asphalt Hot Mix Plant

2026-09-24 16:16:52

As a manufacturer specializing in the export of asphalt mixing equipment, Haomei Machinery boasts over a decade of experience in the mass production of continuous drum mix type asphalt hot mix plants. Our DHB series drum mix asphalt plant integrates aggregate drying, heating, and asphalt mixing into a single counter-flow drum. Materials flow steadily from the inlet to the outlet, ensuring uninterrupted, continuous production. With a streamlined structure and compact footprint, this series offers a cost-effective choice for rural road networks, road maintenance, and general municipal engineering projects.

The DHB series drum mix asphalt hot mix plant covers the mainstream capacity range of 20 t/h to 80 t/h. Options include either a mobile (towed) chassis or a stationary foundation setup, allowing for flexible selection based on specific operational requirements.
The DHB-20 model features a rated capacity of 20 t/h, a drum size of Φ1.2m × 6m, a total power rating of approximately 35 kW, and a transport weight of about 12 tons; it is ideal for small-scale maintenance units and rural road repair projects.
The DHB-40 is the flagship model, offering a rated capacity of 40 t/h, a drum size of Φ1.5m × 7.5m, and a total power rating of approximately 55 kW. It is equipped with a three-bin cold aggregate feeding system and fully automatic flow control, keeping the discharge temperature fluctuation within ±5°C. With a transport weight of about 18 tons, it is our best-selling drum mix asphalt plant model in Southeast Asian and African markets.
The DHB-60 model offers a rated capacity of 60 t/h, a drum size of Φ1.8m × 9m, and a total power rating of approximately 75 kW. It features a four-bin cold aggregate feeding system and a two-stage weighing system. With a transport weight of about 25 tons, it meets the needs of large-scale rural road network upgrades and county-level municipal main road construction.
The DHB-80 is the top-tier model, featuring a rated capacity of 80 t/h, a drum size of Φ2.0m × 10m, and a total power rating of approximately 90 kW; it is suitable for continuous material supply on medium-to-short-term linear infrastructure projects.

The core advantages of the drum-type hot mix asphalt plant lie in three areas.
First, drying and mixing take place within a single counter-flow drum; the hot airflow contacts the aggregates in a counter-current manner, resulting in high heat-exchange efficiency. Fuel consumption is controlled at 5.5–7.0 kg per ton of mixture—8% to 12% lower than that of batch-type asphalt mixing plant equipment with similar capacity.
Second, the drum mix hot mix asphalt plant features a streamlined structure, eliminating complex components such as vibrating screens, hot aggregate bins, and mixing chambers. With fewer moving parts, it offers low failure rates during continuous operation; the only wear parts are the internal lifting flights and wear-resistant liners, which have a service life exceeding 12 months.
Third, it has a small footprint; a modular, integrated design allows the entire unit to be mounted on a single towed chassis. Upon arrival at the site, no permanent concrete foundation is required, and commissioning and production can begin within just 2–3 days.

The standard dust removal system of the drum type asphalt hot mix plant employs a two-stage approach—cyclone dust collection followed by a water-film scrubber—keeping flue gas emissions below 50 mg/Nm³. For markets with stricter environmental regulations, the system can be upgraded to a pulse-jet baghouse filter, reducing emissions to under 20 mg/Nm³. The combustion system comes standard with a high-efficiency atomizing diesel burner and supports flexible fuel switching (e.g., natural gas or heavy oil) to accommodate regional fuel cost structures.

Based on years of export experience, drum-type hot-mix plants are best suited for three types of customers:
First, contractors handling rural road construction and maintenance, where projects are geographically dispersed, schedules are tight, and equipment requires frequent relocation.
Second, entities responsible for maintaining internal road networks within mining or industrial complexes, allowing them to avoid the transportation costs associated with purchasing finished asphalt.
Third, operators using the plant to supplement the capacity of large batch-type asphalt mixing plants, providing emergency supply for scattered project sections.

It is important to note that drum-type hot mix asphalt plant equipment utilizes dynamic flow metering; consequently, mix proportioning accuracy and the flexibility to switch formulas are lower than those of batch-type asphalt mixing plant equipment. It is therefore better suited for producing standard mixtures such as AC (Asphalt Concrete) and ATB (Asphalt Treated Base). If a project requires frequent formula changes or the production of high-end mixtures like SMA (Stone Matrix Asphalt) or modified asphalt, a batch-type asphalt plant model remains the more reliable choice.

Haomei Machinery’s full range of drum-type hot-mix plants features modular, sectionalized packaging suitable for standard containerized shipping. Equipped with multilingual control systems and standardized spare parts packages, these plants are supported by remote technical guidance and on-site installation and commissioning services, delivering practical, continuous-mixing production solutions to global customers.
